CSPR-CL

ICAADA Certified Supervisor of Peer Recovery – Clinical (CSPR-CL) ) is a credential for treatment/clinical professionals who wish to show their competencies related to providing effective and ethical recovery support supervision.

CSPR-CL Requirements

Pre-requisite:
  • Currently licensed/credentialed as approved CAPRC/CARC Supervisor per CAPRC Code of Ethics
    • A licensed behavioral health professional currently practicing in the state of Indiana (LAC, LCAC, LBSW, LSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, HSPP, or Psychiatrist)
    • CADAC II or higher through ICAADA
    • ICADC or ICAADC through IC&RC
    • NCAC II or MAC through NAADAC
Experience:
  • Professional Experience:
    • 4000 supervised experience hours in Substance Use/Mental Health Services
  • Supervisory Experience:
    • 300 hours supervised experience in a leadership or supervisory role of peer recovery support professionals

Education and Training:
  • 16 hours of recovery support ethical responsibility specific education (MHAI SWD Training Institute 2-day Recovery Support Ethics is the only course accepted)
  • 6 hours HIV/AIDS specific education
  • 14 hours of Recovery Support Supervision Training (Only course accepted in the MHAI SWD Training Institute 2-day Recovery Support Supervision curriculum)
  • 85 hours of additional training in Addiction/Mental Health education (hours above will not count towards 85 additional hours)
  • 6 hours in cultural competency

Education and training hours are defined as workshops, seminars, institutes, accredited college/university courses, and other accredited education delivered in-person or on-line. Education hours must be accredited by approved providers who are state or national organizations granted authority to accredit education for credentialing and licensing purposes. You must show a certificate of attendance/completion that lists who has accredited the course for education hours when submitting the hours for approval. One (1) contact hour of education is equal to sixty (60) minutes of continuous instruction. 15 contact hours are given for each college semester credit. Therefore, a college course of three (3) credits is equal to 45 contact hours. 

Supporting documentation in the form of syllabus, course description, etc. may also be required to review content for acceptability. To be considered a valid training experience for the purpose of credentialing, education/training must be related to the knowledge and skill base associated with the performance domains outlined for this credential.

  • The applicant must sign, and agree to abide by the ICAADA Certified Supervisor of Peer Recovery (CSPR) Code of Ethics
Residency:
  • Candidate must live or work in Indiana at least 51% of the time.
Professional References:
  • Must provide three professional references
Recertification:
  • 40 hours of recovery support domain specific education every two year, including 6 clock-hours in recovery support (or non-clinical) ethics and 6 clock-hours in non-clinical supervision/leadership education
