Certified Alcohol and Drug Addiction Consultant I (CADAC I) is a non-clinical level credential that is recognized only in Indiana.
Requirements to earn your CADAC I credential
Experience
- 2,000 hours of supervised experience
- 220 clock hours of intense supervision in the domains may be included in the above 2,000 hours
- Bachelor’s OR Master’s Degree in Human Services
– 1,000 hours of supervised experience
– 220 hours of intense supervision in the core domains may be included in the above 1,000 hours
– Recovery: 3 years Minimum

Education & Training
- 180 Clock hours of formal training, i.e., academic courses, on-line CEU’s, conferences, etc. including 6 hours of Ethics & 6 hours HIV
Examination
Code of Ethics
- The applicant must sign, and agree to abide by the ICAADA Certified Addiction and Drug Abuse Consultant (CADAC) Code of Ethics
Residency
- Candidate must live or work in Indiana at least 51% of the time
Recertification
- 40 hours of related continuing education earned every two years, including 6 hours of Ethics & 6 hours of HIV

- Exam: Member – $200 | Non-member – $400
