CSPR-PR
ICAADA Certified Supervisor of Peer Recovery – Peer Recovery (CSPR-PR) is a credential for recovery support professionals who wish to show their competencies related to providing effective and ethical recovery support supervision.
CSPR-PR Requirements
Pre-requisite:
- Candidate must live or work in Indiana at least 51% of the time
- Currently credentialed as one of the following nationally/internationally recognized credentials (no others are accepted)
- Certified Peer Recovery Coach- CPRC (formerly CAPRC II) offered through ICAADA
- Certified Recovery Coach-CRC (formerly CARC) offered through ICAADA
- Certified Recovery Coach II (CRC II) offered through ICAADA
- Internationally Credentialed Peer Recovery (ICPR) offered through IC&RC
- National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) offered through NAADAC
- National Certified Peer Support (NCPS) offered through Mental Health America
*Please note that the DMHA CPSP (formerly CHW/CRS) credential is NOT accepted as a pre-requisite credential.*
Education and Training:
- 35 hours of an approved recovery support fundamentals training
- 16 hours of recovery support ethical responsibility specific education
- MHAI SWD Training Institute 2-day Recovery Support Ethics is the only course accepted
- 14 hours of Recovery Support Supervision Training
- MHAI SWD Training Institute 2-day Recovery Support Supervision is the only course accepted
- 85 hours of additional training in Addiction/Mental Health education (hours above will not count towards 85 additional hours)
- 6 hours HIV/AIDS specific education

Applications should NOT BE started until all pre-requisites and required training(s) are met/completed. If you start an application prior to completing this, it will be deleted. Please note you will have one (1) year from loading the application to complete. If it is not completed within one (1) year of starting, the application will be deleted, and you will need to reload it in and start from the beginning.

Professional Experience:
- Professional Experience:
- Four thousand (4,000) supervised hours in professional Substance Use/Mental Health Services
- Supervisory Experience:
- Three hundred (300) hours supervised experience in a leadership or supervisory role of peer recovery support professionals
Code of Ethics:
- The candidate must sign, and agree to abide by the ICAADA Certified Supervisor of Peer Recovery (CSPR) Code of Ethics
Examination:
- Candidate must pass the IC&RC Peer Recovery Exam
- Remote and in-person examinations are available. When considering remote examinations, please ensure you have reviewed system requirements and other obligations that must be adhered to for success in the remote examination completion. Initial Application Fees:
- Membership: $125
- Exam: Member – $150 | Non-member – $300 (if IC&RC Peer Recovery exam not previously taken)
- Certification: Member – $100 | Non-member – $200
Recertification:
- The ICAADA CSPR-PR is renewable every two (2) years from the date of issuance. To renew candidates must obtain 40 hours of recovery support domain specific education every two (2) years, including 6 clock-hours in recovery support (or non-clinical) ethics and 6 clock-hours in non-clinical supervision education.
Recertification Fees:
- ICAADA Renewal Membership: $100
- Certification Renewal Fee: Member – $100 | Non-member – $200
