ICAADA Certified Addiction and Drug Abuse Consultant II (CADAC II) is a clinical addiction credential recognized by the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction and by the International Credentialing and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC) and IC&RC affiliated states and countries which offer the IC&RC Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC) credential.

Requirements to earn your CADAC II credential

  • Professional experience
    • 4,000 hours of supervised treatment experience in addiction services
    • Up to 1,000 hours of experience may be waived if the applicant has a minimum of three years of experience in a recovery support program or a bachelor’s degree in human services from an accredited college or university
  • Education
    • 300 clock hours of an approved, supervised experience in addiction or mental health treatment practice
    • 270 hours of formal education and/or training in addictions and mental health with 180 hours in addictions treatment
    • Six hours of specialized training in HIV/STI and six hours ethics training
  • Examination
  • Code of ethics
    • Applicants must sign the ICAADA peer recovery code of ethics statement affirming that the applicant has read and will abide by the code of ethics
  • Recertification
    • 40 hours of related continuing education earned every two years, including six hours of ethics and HIV
  • Geographic location
    • Employed or residing in Indiana 51% of the time

CADAC II online registration

Applications for the CADAC II credential must demonstrate applicable education or employment as well as pass the IC&RC counselor examination.

Once you submitted CADAC II application and packet is complete, your CADAC II certificate will be issued within 60 days.
