Notes to the ICAADA Membership from President-Elect Louise PolanskyAugust 18, 2010
At a special meeting on August 13, the ICAADA board of directors voted unanimously to accept Mental Health America Indiana’s (MHAI’s) proposal to join this outstanding organization as a subsidiary. This historic action will be formalized by a membership vote to be held Friday, October 22, during ICAADA’s annual membership meeting, 6-8 p.m. in the basement conference room of the ICAADA offices at 1800 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis. We urge you to take part in this meeting, during which results of the upcoming election of new board officers will also be announced. Expect to receive more information on MHAI and what ICAADA gains by joining with MHAI in the election mailing which will go out to all members later this month.
I remain excited about assuming the role of ICAADA president later this year and want to be sure that you are also aware that our annual conference is being held on Saturday, October 23, at the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. The conference has an exciting line-up under the direction of conference chair Dr. Michael York, and more information will also be coming out shortly on the agenda. During the conference, ICAADA’s Professional of the Year will also be announced, so I also urge you to submit those nominations to Portia or Mary in the ICAADA office by email to ICAADA @gmail.com or by mail to ICAADA, 1800 N. Meridian Street, Suite 604, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
Lastly but not least importantly, congratulations are in order to the many ICAADA members and certified counselors who have achieved LCAC and LAC status. Our intention is to reinvent ICAADA to keep it relevant in meeting the needs of Indiana addiction counselors during this time of change in the field, providing the same and new certifications, training programs, increased advocacy services, and other new membership services. Be sure to exercise your voting rights during the vote election and at the annual meeting, and I hope to see you all October 22 and 23.
