2013 Training Schedule ICAADA Central Indiana Regional Chapter (CIRC)

The Central Indiana Regional Chapter (CIRC) is an independent, non-profit chapter of the Indiana Counselors Association on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Inc. (ICAADA), established in the 1990’s and made up of individuals dedicated to addressing the treatment needs of persons with alcohol and/or other drug use and/or mental health disorders. As a chapter of ICAADA, CIRC participation provides substance abuse and mental health practitioners the opportunity to be represe nted on the ICAADA board of directors and to have their voices heard at the State level. This past year, ICAADA took part in the successful effort to establish an addiction counselor license in Indiana, along with its partners in the social work, mental health and marriage and family therapy fields. In the past ten years, CIRC has focused on providing low-cost, high-quality workshops to help keep front-line clinical staff abreast of the most effective treatment modalities for not only individuals with the various forms of addictions, but individuals with mental health and substance use disorders as well.

CIRC charges no membership fees and holds business meetings as needed to coincide with CIRC workshops. CIRC business meetings provide updates on ICAADA activities and opportunities to participate in planning the CIRC training curriculum, which depends on the involvement of CIRC members. As manpower allows, CIRC takes on other efforts in support of Indiana addiction and mental health client and counselor interests.

CIRC Workshops: In 2013, CIRC continues to offer bimonthly workshops, each approved by ICAADA for five continuing education units (CEUs). All CEUs are valid not only for ICAADA certification and recertification, but also for Indiana Professional Licensing Agency licenses for social workers, marriage and family therapists, and mental health and addiction counselors. ICAADA additionally approves up to a one-hour CEU for the CIRC business meeting, up to a bi-annual limit set by ICAADA.

2013 workshops and meetings are being held in the basement Club Room of the North United Methodist Church, 3808 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, on the northwest corner of W. 38th Street and N. Meridian Street. Entrance to the church is off the parking lot, where there is ample parking, and the lot has entrances both from N. Meridian Street and from N. Illinois Street, which is one block west of N. Meridian Street. The Illinois Street entrance to the parking lot is on the east side of N. Illinois Street (which is one-way going north), about a half-block north of W. 38th Street. CIRC Training’s 2013 location is only about five miles southeast of the Butler University area locations we have used for several years.
